north carolina defense machining initiative

Overview

Did you know the U.S. Government is the worlds largest purchaser? The Department of Defense (DoD) purchased $237 billion in goods and services in 2006 alone. In that year, North Carolina companies won $2.95 billion in contracts. While that sounds like an amazing number, North Carolina ranked just 26th in the nation for the total value of contract awarded in 2006.

In order to help North Carolina machine shops grow their businesses and bring more DoD contract dollars into the state, the North Carolina Aerospace Alliance (NCAA) and the North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) have established the North Carolina Defense Machining Initiative.

The North Carolina Defense Machining Initiative evaluates open Request for Quotes (RFQ) and Request for Proposals (RFP) for machined aerospace and other repair parts that are posted on the Defense Logistics Agency's electronic bid board (DIBBS). Open solicitations (RFQs and RFPs) with sufficient technical data to support bidding and manufacturing operations are identified and then reposted to SourceNC.com. Through SourceNC.com opportunities are made available to North Carolina machine shops and other North Carolina Aerospace Alliance members. The goal is to help these companies eliminate the complex process of finding qualified opportunities so that they may win more DoD contracts and grow their businesses.

If you represent a North Carolina machine shop and your company has the equipment, capacity and expertise to machine aerospace parts for DoD, the North Carolina Defense Machining Initiative is for you.
